Here is a very interesting story: www.12newsnow.com/story/20628222/nederland-school-denies-epileptic-boys-service-dogMost of it is the standard issue of schools not knowing where they legally stand on the issue of service dog access, but the biggest difference from the norm is that the principal wants the student to be a "certified service dog handler" even though there is no such thing and the mother is going along with it. That seems like a very dangerous think for them to act like exists- with the state of people asking for special identification that doesn't exist left and right, it only gives them another thing to think can be required for access. If the school gets some sort of certification of this child being a service dog handler, what will happen when the next person who needs a service dog in the school comes along? Will another child or a teacher be denied their school or dog because there isn't such a thing as a service dog handler certification for them to show? That fight will be enormous if they get away with requiring something like that the first time. What do you think?
